LABYRINTH

We have another opportunity to continue to deepen our faith during the season of Lent. We are all invited to walk a labyrinth, which is an ancient Christian spiritual practice. A labyrinth is designated pattern used to reflect upon life and faith. It is like taking a journey. A labyrinth is not a maze. It has only one way to follow to the centre and back out again. Going to the centre is done purposefully. Time is taken to reflect and to pray, to wonder and to rest with God. Labyrinths are designed for people to walk. There are different labyrinth designs. Some labyrinths are in gardens and on the floors of churches. Some labyrinths are designed to be portable and are painted on canvases. Labyrinths can be used in many ways. One way is to think about the path as a journey home toward God. God is the centre. While walking the labyrinth path, we take time to think about what it means for you to be at home with God. We take time getting to the centre. When the centre is reached, we stay awhile, breathe, pray and when ready, we reverse the path out of the labyrinth.
